1863 Journal Entry-Long

January 2, 1863

Today all slaves from rebellious states were freed from bondage. Lincoln finally signed the final Emancipation Proclamation. Mom and Dad will be so happy. This document will probably release few slaves because southern slave states are not going to release their "property". I think this proclamation will help a lot to end slavery. Parts of the Confederacy that get liberated by our troops will probably be affected. This war has been very eventful. I think the Union is winning so far.
